I just had a 350 motor and 350 trans installed in the regal. I drove it but it cuts back when i floor it. I can tell its not running to its full potential. The mechanic said it was the distributor. I have a Jegs distributor on the way. Is there anything else I would need to probably replace? It still has the stock 2bbl carb.

at first glance they appear more complicated. but once you take one apart or rebuild or read up about them they're surprisingly simple. and they have 3 different "ranges" that can be tuned--idle, part throttle, and full throttle. most other common carbs only give you a basic idle and a full throttle tune. as such q-jets can produce just as much power as any other carb and they'll usually get better mileage with great driveability.
look for a late 70's/early 80's truck carb. this way it has the correct baseplate for a TV cable if you go to a 2004r trans and they have the APT adjustment. then read cliff ruggles book on modding them.

I went ahead and ordered the summit racing combo. It has a 600cfm carb, intake manifold. air cleaner, gaskets, bolts, etc. It was a pretty good deal. $391 after shipping. Hopefully, summit has good quality stuff.

summits stuff is rebranded parts from the manufacturers they sell. i believe they only use the good ones, but i can't swear to it. (there might be some proform stuff in there--i hope not!)

The Summit brand carbs are actually an old Holley design from the early 90's that never caught on. They were trying to build a next generation carb, but everyone still wanted the old modular Holley. As such, I don't know if they are good or bad. I have one (650 DP spreadbore), but have never tried to use it. It was almost new when I got it as a freebie with a wheelbarrow of Holley carbs a neighbor gave me instead of throwing them out. Even with about 4 or 5 Holleysand 3 Edelbrocks at my disposal, I still hunted down a Quadrajet for my Cutlass. It is a decision I do not regret as the part throttle and fuel economy are second only to EFI. Plus, it bolted right in place with no modifications. For an intake, I run an Edelbrock Performer I pulled off a Camaro in the junkyard for $15. The fuel pump is a Holley that I painted black ( it was chrome and I despise chrome under the hood), which was also a freebie. All tolled, I have less than $100 in my entire fuel system.
