i have an 82 cutlass supreme brougham with the 260 4.3
I have a 350 and th350 trans i am planning on putting in it. I have been told by a local performance shop that it will go right in, and any g body headers will work. The guys at Holley(called flowtechs hotline) say that the supremes had an offset motor(1" to the pass side) in which they had no headers to fit
if it was centered, only part # 2150hkr would fit. Now, all i would like to know is whether or not this is true, if it is what will i need.
My main concerns are, Will i have to change drive shafts. Will everything else, motor mounts, accessories and brackets, and etc work
Thanks in advance.

The 'offset' motor mounting deal for Supremes is a hoax. The motor will fit fine, and there are plenty of headers available for a SBC in a g-body.

Since you're getting headers, it's a good idea to get a trans crossmember that will accomodate true dual exhaust.

What trans do you have now? That will determine whether or not you can reuse the driveshaft.

Motor mounts will need to be changed for a SBC.

None of the brackets interchange between Olds and Chevy.

Yes an OLDSMOBILE 350 is a direct bolt-in. You likely already have a th350 ... unless your pan has the word "metric" written on it ... even if you have that Metric 200, the th350 should be a direct swap. Several companies make headers to fit the A/G body with the SBO. I have a set of Hedmann's. It's good to hear another Olds is getting an Olds instead of some vanilla generic SBC ... Those that contemplate dropping an SBC would be better off to find a Canadian car with a 305 or buy a Monte Carlo. All the bother and the expense of swapping mounts and everything to fit an engine that doesn't belong to the car offsets any extra expense of building the Olds over the Chevy and saves agrevation.

Please bring your US Olds factory equipped G bodies and swap them for our sbc powered ones. It will make finding parts simple for me.

It is a chevy th350 and a chevy 350 going in it. I have new motor mount brackets for the motor and i figured id need new lower mounts. i was going to purchase P/n 11000flt, long tube flowtechs for a 79 malibu. Flowtechs book only lists shorty's. Im pretty sure itll work since theres another member with an 83 supreme with long tubes.
The motor looks like its centered so i figured he was full of crap since the hooker headers he listed were 450 bucks from summit and did not even mention cutlass in the description. I believe its a 200 trans thats in there now. vin code is 8 for the motor (4.3 260).

It is a complete bolt in, but requires a change of everything. I did it and am quite happy with the results. As for what parts you need, there is a list of what you need in the engine forum. It says V6, but it's the same to go from BOP to Chevy V8. Just order parts for a Monte Carlo with a 305 HO and you will be fine. The header thing is supposedly something to do with A bodies from the early 70's and has no bearing on G bodies.

Still, easier to buy a car with a Chevy or drop in an Olds ... btw LOOK at your trans .... it's likely to be a th350 ... even cars (like my 81) that left the factory with a metric ... rarely retained them. I just pulled a universal bolt-pattern TH350 out of the 81 to make room for a universal bolt-pattern 200-4r

I dont even think it applies to those cars either.

As far as swaping from an olds motor to a chevy motor it is not nearly as complicated as people make it out to be and is really cheap to do. Hell if you have a complete motor all you have to buy is $20 worth of motor mounts, which your motor mounts probably need changing any way and the chevy mounts are cheaper then the olds mounts, and your done. Then just move the battery tray to the other side of the car and adjust some wiring. The fuel lines are on the right side with the 260's. Radiators are the same between v-8 olds and v-8 chev g-bodies. It's not like putting a ford motor in one.

It doesn't. It is a complete urban myth that refuses to die.
