I would rather not hook the kickdown cable back up, does that cause any other issues? I dont care to manually downshift when required.

Ok this is how I understand it , the kick down is not like the tv cable on the 2004r you can get away with out running it but why it will still add stress to the clutches on you transmission if your not manually shifting it all the time and it shifts way early if you dont hold the gear. That being said if you want to remove the cable why not do it right and put a full manual valve body in the car. 🙂

Why would you not want to have your trans work properly ? Just curious

Its just one more ugly piece of clutter in the engine bay :puke:

Wait til you floor it and it doesn't kick down! I had a car with a broken cable once and absolutely hated it. The purpose behind that cable is the passing gear. If you floor it going 35mph, in 3rd gear, at 1500 rpms where do you think the car is going to go? Nowhere fast, that's for sure. The secondaries on your carb can't make use of that low engine speed, hence the reason for a kickdown cable. You're going to be dumping gas and waiting for the engine to gradually build speed unless you want to drop it down a gear or two everytime. Just something to consider. IMO it's well worth the cheap investment and minimal work.

Hi put a shift kit in the trans and a quick silver shifter and leave the cable off.Put it behind the engine and up shift and down shift when needed have fun.
