I have an Edelbrock performer intake and 600cfm carb.It might be the pump cause it sounds like the push rod in the pump is noisy sometimes. How do i make sure my vacc advance is working or getting vacc it needs?

Well that depends on what year your engine is, and if its emission controlled or not.

here's a link to the manuals for our carbs ( http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new ... 1000.shtml )

My engine USED to be emissions controlled but i removed all of it, and all of the components that used emissions, so my engine is a non emissions controlled engine, so according to the manual i hook my Vac advance up to the vac port on the right, but if you still use emissions then i THINK you should hook yours up to the port on the left, and do the timing accordingly.

And I've got an update on my problem, i think i've got my timing advanced to much, and i might have the car idling just alittle to low. When im in drive but not giving it gas, the power steering kind've cuts in and out because the engines not at a high enough RPM. My new tach should be in soon so I'll have that problem all fixed up and i;ll update you on if it helps the throttle response problem at all.

Deff check your timing though, that could be it to.

Also check your spark plugs, make sure they're gapped right, that could contribute to the problem, And check all your wires and plugs, make sure they're in good shape.

Yea the motor is not original and no emissions ect.I hooked it to the right side port and gunna check timing soon. And it hasnt really done it scince i went back to my old gas station.Just bad gas im figuring.

Alright man got an update for ya, did you fix your throttle response problem yet??

I'm not sure if the fuel pump helped that much, because i solved my problem before i installed the new one.

But after re-setting the float bowls, which had a MAJOR inpact on the throttle response, and re-calibrating the carb, AND re-doing my timing correctly, the problem was resolved, so i'd double check the timing of of your engine, eliminate all other possibilitys first.

Also i'd advise buying an OEM fuel pump if you do, i just learned this lesson the hard way, your car most likley has a Fuel in, Fuel out, and return line, most aftermarket pumps don't have a hookup for the return line.
