the 91-95 escort gt was a bp not b6 b6 is a 1.6 bp is a 1.8 also the car shared the same brakes and suspension as the 90-94 protege. i use to have a 91 protege that was awd and a bpd i put the ford valve cover on it to mess with people. always got the why did you put a ford engine in it. theres a huge list of small cars i could build to fit that or even a turbo 2.3 mustang or v6 one.

Yeah, a turbo 2.3 in a Pinto is a combo that kicks *ss! I really want a KA24DE or SR20 swapped Datsun PL510, but they are so rare around here that the car is too expensive to buy. ( That's why I am on a BMW E30 kick right now...)

I say buy the damn Festiva! People will laugh, but you'll get the last laugh at the gas pump. Plus, it has a full four cylinders, not three like a Metro/Sprint, Subaru Justy or Diahatsu Charade. So long as you do not live in a hilly region it won't be all that bad to drive as a beater.

i know of one car that might really work with this idea. you guys ever hear of the incredible ford festiva.my step fathers had 2 of these cars, my mother has one now. these cars were very ahead of there time. pulling 40 to 50 mpg.so a lot of people take a mazda b6t engine and put it in these little cars run very respectable #s all the way around milage, drag times.everything, kinda want for the winter actually

yeah, my daily driver is a 97 Ford Aspire. They drop the same b6t in the aspires. They run 13's from what I read. My car now gets about 40 mpg, so I would assume it would be a little less with that engine.

Let's see, I paid $700 for the car. I'm sure I could pick up an engine complete setup for about that. Less than $1500 for a 13 second sleeper that I can drive for a week on one tank of gas and only pay $20 in gas to fill up. Hmmmm....

If you get an Aspire to daily drive, make sure it's a stick shift. I've been told 100 times "For a car with only 69 horsepower, you sure make that thing move like it's got 300 hp". Without stick, they came with 3 speed autos. I've read tho, that if you are going to drop the b6t, you need to convert it to automatic due to space problems 🙁

Man, I know my car isn't nice looking, but Festies are just fugly!

Hell, I think I spent more on my Carputer setup than on the actual car. I think I got the car for a steal, lol
