so it begins we just ripped apart the 350 over my dads house and found bent valves and broken piston rings so tommarow hes taking the block in to get bored .030 over and the heads to be rebuilt instead of throwing everything back to gether like i did last time wiht the motor im geting all new everything

-Eagle rotating assembly forged
-Cam and lifter kit
-Weiand X-cel manifold
-Holly 750 carb
-Roller rockers
-New Push rods
-Gear drive
-High volume fuel pump

those are my plans but im open to suggestions if there anythign else i need or combanationd i could use, anything in my parts list is a waste of money let me kno i dont plan on getting it all together for a couple month so yea

thanx

Don't hbore/hone it until u get the pistons and rings. It'll help avoid mistakes. .030 over isn't always exact from piston manufacturers. Its always best to have the parts in hand first. Drop the gear drive and go with a good roller chain and gears. Just my personal preference. Nothing wrong with a good OE style chain either, they last quite a while. Don't forget the good heads for the strokers flow, and springs will depend on your cam. I'm running a Lunati 60104 that is going in the 383 next year. Not much vacuum, though. It won't operate my vacuum assisted power brakes unless u stay in the gas but I'm switching to a hydroboost system anyways. HV fuel pump is a waste of money, the stock pumps will handle 400+ HP, if u need a HV fuel pump, then u need a larger fuel line anyways. Pushrod length will depend on your heads/valvetrain combo, do not order them until u find the correct length. Have u looked at Scats rotating assembly? They offer the 383 in an internal balance version so u can use more 350 parts vs. paying more for 400 parts.

I second on you passing up the gear drive. I used to have one and the noise was cool for like a week and then it got really anoying.

Agreed. I'd rather hear the mellow exhaust sound that the 383 WILL bellow out for everyone to enjoy.
