Im building a 396 bbc. I want to run the edelbrock oval port performer rpm 110cc semi open chamber head with the a crane hyd roller cam 230/236 114 los .598 .610 lift with fuel injection. I would like to be in the area of 10:1 comp. The question I have is what piston do I need? will a open chamber piston work with a semi open chamber head or does it have to be a semi chamber piston? Also what cc of piston would I have to have to be in the 10:1 comp range? Or is the cam I chose to much lift for that high of compression? Im hopping we a engine machinist on this forum. Thanks for any help.

You can find all kinds of comp. ratio calculators on the Internet, you can just backwards build it and use the calculator to determine the piston you need. The problem with that is you need to know the deck height of the block so you know if the piston will sit above or below the deck at TDC. More than likely your piston will end up being a flat top type piston that will work fine, but if the block was not zero decked the compression won't be the same side to side, most machine shops calculate this when they machine the block
