Can anyone tell me if they have installed a tailpipe set over a 8.5" rear end?
I bought my exhaust about 10 years ago and it memory serves me right my tubes are 2.75".
I can't remember my type but my mufflers are flows.

You now have either 2.25 or 2.5, not aware of a 2.75. The 3.0 will fit over the 8.5 rear end with no problems, I run 3.0 flowmasters and 3.0 tail pipes over and out the side [Cutlass 442] in back of the rear tires, got my system from Torque Tech, fit very nice.

Are you talking about the muffler outlet or my exhaust pipes? I believe my exhaust pipes are 2.75" but I guess my muffler outlets are the ones that matter.
Does it make sense? I managed a 2.75" pipe set with 2.5" mufflers. Does an exhaust clamp claim the gap okay?

My car is at my parents house. I know measuring would be best. I just want some comments.

I would think you should not have any problem getting 3" tailpipes over the axle with an 8.5" rear, I have a 9" and I made 4" tailpipes that go over my axle with no clearance issues.

I am not aware of 2.75 mufflers or pipes, I do not believe that size exists so my guess is you have 2.25 or 2.5 mufflers and pipes. I do not think a clamp would bridge the gap of any pipe change in size, you will need adapters, they are small and cheap.
