I have a 2000 S10 4.3 with NV3500 stick. Mine is 4x4. But it is a hydraulic setup. The only thing with the NV3500 is they are good behind the 4.3 and thats it. You stick that behind a 350 with alittle bit of power and youll start breaking things.

Thanks again for the input. What I'm thinking about is using a 4.3, but keeping the existing mechanical clutch setup, and possibly using a T5 behind it. Did GM ever install a 4.3 with a T5 in any of their vehicles?

so it looks like i will be getting the 4.3 from the s10.. gonna take my batt to work tomorrow so i can hook it up and see what car sounds like.. but like i metioned ill keep you posted i kno hydraulic might be better but i want to keep my factory linkage setup..

If my memory serves me, the only year that the F body T5 had a mechanical linkage was 1983. 1982 was 4 speed with a mechanical linkage, and 1984 was T5 with a hydraulic linkage. Only the V8 T5s needed the special bellhousing, because the V8 T5s were mounted on an 18 degree angle. The V6 trannys were mounted straight up. I was thinking that I COULD use a V6 T5 with the stock Malibu clutch and bellhousing.
