I put a cat-back exhaust system from Hooker on my Caprice, and it sounds fantastic. 8)

so we established 200hp is about the benchmark for this engine stock and it cant really be modded, what kind of torque figures does it put out compared to the L05 / the 350 truck engine then?

It's a good cruiser engine, would give moderate performance in a 3000 lb car with typical tuning but blow a bunch of money thinking you'll beat the odds on this one, they are very hard to make quick. :wink:

L99-200hp/245tq
LO5-210hp/300tq

I agree with Randy, good cruiser but expensive to make quick. Think of it as a short stroke 305. It does have high(ish) compression ratio and fuel injection but those were more of a fuel economy strategy than performance.
