I removed the original 307(dog) motor from my 1987 cutlass 442 and installed a 1970 350. I am unable to get the blower to run for vent, heat, defrost etc. We removed the A/C system and my chiltons book is no help. Does this work with vaccume or electric or both. Please help if you can pictures would be awesome. Oh and what a screamer I got in a motor this car now runs like a bat out of hell. cant wait till I get to the track to check times.

You don't like AC? Stock 350 no headers etc you probably went from about 15.0s to low 14s. Did you ever run it with the 307?

ive heard just swapping out the rear gears with the 307 / 2004r combo wakes it up a bit and 15's are possible. Im looking into the same swap with a late 60's olds 350, if i remember right the a/c is an issue i think it runs partially through the ecm but after looking at mine i really don't think its that complicated

I never said I put in a stock 1970 350. And the difference between the 180 hp. dog I took out and the 300+hp race horse I put in is night and day. It does have headers Heddmann to be exact, edelbrock performer rpm intake with edelbrock 750cfm carb, comp cams roller cam, lifters, rocker arms. reworked #6 heads 2500rpm high stall torque converter with street strip 200 4R transmission. 373 gears matched up to a Eaton posi carrier rear end. There is no comparison at all between the two motors and Oldsmobile was foolish to ever put that lame 307 in a 442. I do not know what times I will have with this car( yet) but if I would run 15.0 with that 307 than Im gonna run 11.0 with this motor. The difference is night and day between these two motors, this 350 is wicked strong and the car is now very fast. I am very happy with my decision to get rid of that 307. I could have easily put the A/C back in just didn't want to, and I still have it all.

Hmnn printed words don't have tone & inflection and sometimes things just aren't worded well. I'm pro to the swap & no fan of the 307. Shoot you can see I swapped out the 307 in my 442. The 350 Olds is a much betters engine than the 307. Glad to see some performance mods as the 442 should be a runner. As far as the AC & vin 9 numbers matching 307 just keep it for down the road as some concors restoration type guys might be interested in it or willing to give you more for it. Have fun let us know how the test n tune goes. Remember its about having fun & making her better & faster better mph etc not as much about getting a certain et.

well the 1st time I read your post it sounded like you where dishin me for putting in the 350. Then I looked at what cars you had and was confused. This is a father and son project and I'm enjoying the time well spent on this car. Its adicting though and we want to keep improving it and that is getting more costly than I originally had agreed to spend. It still needs body work and a paint job. Now it moves like a 442 should but next is to make it look like a 442 should have. I still need some idea whats up with the fan not working. Any ideas?

Have you checked fuse/relay for the blower motor :?:

They are completely electric. There shouldn't be any vacuum issues related to the blower motor inself. I would just check and make sure that your connection to the motor has power. If it does, then I would test the motor itself by touching a hot wire (straight from the battery) to it (be sure its grounded)

it worked before we did the motor swap and I am not getting power to it now. Does the vacuum lines change the places the air comes out? I will try to run a hot wire to it but I'm pretty sure it will work if I do. Maybe there is some relay or something associated with the A/C I removed ?

Look in front of the blower motor out in the engine compartment for the blower relay, check the bigger red wire to see if you have power coming in, if you do, check the leads coming out to the blower motor for power(which I would think the BM would run as they rarly go bad overnight). I'd be willing to bet there is either no power going to the relay, as in the harness going behind the motor is either disconnected or pinched, OR the relay just went bad(if you have power going in but not out). Either way, wiring sucks! :blam:

Also, congrats on the new hammer! I got my 307 to 15.70s and had enough, first time to the track with my 455 went 12.71  So your sarcasm may not be that far off! 😀 but like another poster said... keep your factory 307 and a/c parts safe and organized, a 1969 H/O wasn't always a valuable car and alot of valuable muscle cars lost their factory motors when they were cheap cars not worth restoring.
