I know this is a cop-out answer but it might be best to contact some of the major cam companies' tech lines and give them ALL your pertinent specs. They do this stuff all day every day and they want you to be impressed with their product. Be completely honest with them (and yourself) about what your end goal is and they'll set you up. Let us know what their recommendations are. I'm curious as well.

Taking a used engine you bought for dirt cheap that is 'claimed' of being such and such with no actual proof and then bolting on some go fast parts to make lots of power is probably not the right way to be going about things. Also 450 rwhp is alot of power for a 350 street car with no power adders.

whats a mean street car?

I know people with 7 second street cars doesnt meant they are practical.

Is this going to be driven often and how far? and highway cruising? whats the purpose of the car?

with 10.5 to one its a good pump gas motor. Are you looking to put it on kill or is not the hitting the full potential ok? especially with the gearing. I run a 4.56 and on the street with a 3 speed it isnt fun. it takes time to get from point a to b but at the track where its built for im hitting max RPM going threw the traps.

i plan on taking it on car cruises, car meets, and shows. But when i step on the gas, id like it to swing sideways and roast tire. Just a fun street car is all. So im thinking a torquey low end -midrange might even be what im looking for.

You don't need anywhere even close to 450 rwhp to accomplish your goals then. In fact it seems the engine would be just fine as is provided it was actually built right ( and I would bet there's something not quite right about it since that guy practically gave it to you for free ) and it had the appropriate cam. With the right gearing, stall, and exhaust, you got what you're looking for.

Jon Lingenfelter used to always say, "Build for torque and the horsepower just takes care of itself." If a lumpy idle and burnouts are your only real goals then you can probably just do a cam swap in the engine you have. Who knows, maybe the cam that's in it already has that handled. Break out the degree wheel and see if you can figure out what it is.

The guy I bought it from is a long time friend of the family my father did some work 4 him building his garage so to call it even he gave me the motor for cheap. He replaced his 350 with a 383 stroker from skip white performance. I have some new parts for that I'm going to install such as that weiand intake. However I'd like a cam that's nice and gives me Really nice lopey idle but a nice amount of low end torque. I have a 4 spd Saginaw transmission and I'm going to do 373 gears in rear. What cam do u guys recommend? I was thinking about the comp cams magnum 300hr cam, has a radical lope but idle about the low end torque with it

i have to ask him tonight. I remember he was saying it was a 242/240 .460/.472 with a 110 lsa.... but im not quite sure. ill have to ask him tonight.

I bought a 350 off of my fathers friend and im looking to get 450rwhp out of it. it currently has dart iron eagle 227 heads, cam (not sure what kind yet). And i have a weiand stealth intake and holley 750 carb. the motor has forged rods, pistons and crank and he told me it has 10.5:1 compression. I was going to go with a vortech v1 blower but i wont be able to afford it because i have $3000 to spend

What are eagle 277 heads?

@ 10.5:1 compression forget the blower. If youre already at 350 to 400hp, shouldnt take much more to get you there.

If you have 10.5:1 compression, and 3000 to spend with no regard for street manners, the answer is dead simple. Spend $2k on porting, and $1k on a solid roller cam.
