According to the math you should be very close to what you want already. Maybe just a solid roller cam will get you there.

They say the heads flow 297cfm @ .600 lift with 28". They dont specify water or Hg. But if you assume water, wallace racing says that a 350 will produce 563hp @ 8900rpm.

Just going to guess thats at a more realistic 6500-7000rpm that will be more like 500hp. Find a huge solid roller cam, and you'll probably be there. Get a 4000rpm custom stall converter to be able to fry your tires on the street.

I did not see what size bore they used to measure that flow. A lot of times the numbers manufacturers give can be embellished by using a bore that is out of the typical sbc bore range even for an overbore just so their numbers look great. I don't know if Dart does this but I know RHS and a couple others do. I am not saying those heads don't flow well because I know they do but be careful with numbers. Those flow numbers may be for a 4.125in bore and will flow much better on a bench than with a 4.030in bore in on the engine.

Chris;

Thats exactly it. They dont mention bore or water or Hg, so no doubt there is some "fluff" in there.

But even 297cfm "deflated" will put him pretty close to where he wants to be. If the OP is so inclined, he could call up Dart and get the answer to these mysteries, which would give us a much better idea of where he needs to go.

Yea with those heads and a large solid roller he could hit 500-525 crank hp with a high rpm power range with 350ci. It would be a very peaky motor im sure.

Run the engine as is. Don't throw money at it just for the hell of it as you say it runs great as is. Leave well enough alone. Spend the money on better gears and a 5 speed OD transmission for ultimate street drivability.

what kind of 5 speed should i get. I want to convert to stick. As i said, i have the 4spd saginaw but id like a 5 spd. Id do a t56 but too much work.

You are going need something better than a Saginaw. Supposedly, they are weak. One of TKO Tremec or an upgraded T-5 5spd will be needed. Most of the better 4spd's aren't cheap these days, get a 5spd and have a car that is fun at all speeds.

I hope you realize converting an automatic to a manual is not as easy or cheap as you may think...at least if you're planning on doing the job correctly that is. Lots of 'little things' that can turn into real headbangers. Unless you have alot of money, time, parts, and mechanical know-how, you should just stick with an automatic ( a 2004r ). My friend with ALOT of mechanical expertise working on cars had a b*tch of a time just getting his Tremec 5 speed ( 'direct bolt-in'.... ) to fit/work right and his car was already a manual to begin with ( 78 Cutlass ) and he had a lift! Now imagine you doing this but you had to do all the other $hit to convert it over too. There's a good chance you'll be kicking yourself in the a$$ and thinking 'damn, I could be driving my car right now instead of creating this big mess I'm rapidly losing motivation/interest in...'.

Seriously, just put that engine in your car, get some decent gears and a decent auto transmission and enjoy your car. You're obviously young and don't have alot of money or experience yet, so don't think you need your ultimate super duper hot rod right now because you don't. Down the road when you're ready for more, you'll have more money and experience to build something even better. H3ll, your dad should be telling you this!!!
