Actually, many people have done it. Assuming you're starting with a 307 powered car, the biggest problem is that the 200-4R will require beefing to live behind the 455, or you'll need a TH400. If using the TH400, you'll need a shortened driveshaft and different front yoke. You'll need to make slight modifications to the 307 accessory brackets to accommodate the taller deck height of the 455. Use the water pump and pulleys that match the brackets to avoid belt alignment issues. Use the W/Z exhaust manifolds from the 69-72 442s. Use the 307 motor mounts. Hood clearance is tight but adequate with the stock intake. Everything else is pretty much a bolt-in.

it actually started as a 3.8 car but it has a olds 350 with a 350 trans at the moment

I had a 79 with a 455 in it. Easy swap and I used Turbo 350 with 3.42 Gears in the rear. I had a Torker intake with a Holley 750 DP. I had a stock 70 Toronado Cam in it. It actually ran faster before I went with a W30 spec cam. HP is nice but Torque is better for the Street  .

http://www.robertpowersmotorsports.com Bob's setup ran low 12s with mild ported heads reasonable cam headers and 3.73s and got over 15 mpg hwy with the overdrive lock up converter and Q-jet.

I put mine in my 84 hurst in about 3 weekends, and I removed and installed the front end, cut and modified my heater box for my valve covers(because I wanted to keep my heat), rebuilt my front suspention, repainted my engine compartment and framerails, and installed the motor and rewired everything while installing my msd ignition. I have my build pretty much step by step at my cardomain page:

That's awesome, I have pretty much the same thing but with an 84 cutlass supreme. I put the 87 euro front on it, 12 bolt chevy rear and a th350. All under the stock hood with a torker intake and a q jet.

there seem to be plenty of people that have done it but i know that most people just want to cruise so they find the 350 or 403 fits their needs much better
