i was told that in order to put in a 454 it would need to habe the bay modified suspensioned beefed up and that turning would be alot harder due to the weight of the engin. Wouldnt this be true it seems to make alot of sense?

I did it.. its easy its a direct bolt in to the 307.. sometimes you have to modify the heater box sometimes ya dont.. depending on how worn you body mounts are.. the hardest part for me was making a head pipe up for the driverside.
Hotrodoldsman, Nice webpage & cool car. Is your hood factory or Lauren engineerings? I used a HO replica from Laurens and cut out he hood bracing & hood for extra clearence. There is some pics in my pics if you want to check it out. If you did something like this you should add some pics of it on your website.
CutlassJesse Another good link is www.cardomain.com/ride/1381227 Dwight's Cutty ran a 12.04 at 112mph and got 20hwy with an Olds 455 overdrive lockup converter and a Q-jet.
Another thing to check out is the fuel system. Bob & I ran a fuel injected tank like the Grand National/Ttype/4.3tbi Montes its way cheaper & easier and better than doing an out of tank gravity fed electric with sump or cell. One of the benefits of a gbody over an older car that many look over. If you can't locate a used tank for cheap you can also buy a new GN type tank at ebay motors. Other than that you need a return style regulator like a Malory 4309 and a return line. If you want a new pump www.racetronix.com sells them drop in ready just click the Buick GN link.
I agree. I've used Rollmaster however in the past and found their chains/gears to be absolute junk trying to install them. They're still working in my brother's 403 but after that install, I'll never use them again.
In my 455 this time around I used a Cloyes double roller set on the advice from Smitty at MJ Proformance. That's probably one of the nicest timing chain sets I've ever bought. My machinist/engine builder who typically build's Chevy's and Ford's called me up one night after he got done installing the cam degreeing everything in. I thought something was wrong with my parts but he just had to tell me how nice the parts were. Said he's never had a camshaft degree in on the first try before. Said the timing chain was dead on perfect.
After hearing a guy that does this day in and day out for many years be amazed at this, I figure Cloyes will continue to get my money.
i had put a coyles double roller on my olds 350 they are very nice quality. i was just looking for a gear drive for the sound but the way it sounds looks like il be putting a double roller in it when i pick up the cam. havent got to far on the build just got it tore down had a bearing issue so i just picked up a steel crank for it this weekend
