st-jean baptiste ,quebec,
what do you use to fill the exhaust crossover in the original cast iron oldsmobile heads ?

I already has welded the exhaust divider on the exhaust port exit ,

I want to close the exhaust crossover and reshape the exhaust ports ....(not only put a sheet metal plate to cut the flow)

JB weld is guaranteed for 500 deg F only .....

Is there any aluminum stick that I could melt in there ?

People usually melt down old pistons.

it could be a good solution ,

never tought of this

well doesnt a head only get in the 200 degrees F area?

Melting old pistons is harder than it sounds.
I was going to have that done when I had my heads gone through, but the guy had accidentally knocked his ladle (sp?) off the work bench and broke it...
Which turned out to be no big deal because my Edelbrock intake came with a pair of iron slugs to put into the heads to block the cross-over.

The area in question will be subjected to direct exhaust gases likely to be 1000+ degrees.

Anyone ever done it?

what have you done ?

id liketo fill the crossover and reshape the valve bowl .....

I bought a set of Edelbrock heads so I didn't have to bother with it. 😉

he wants to keep is olds engine externaly stock for FAST racing rules ...
internal mods are ok ...

he has to keep the original heads ....this is why i`m trying to get most out of these !

at the amount of $$$ that he invested on those , he would have got a set of performer heads
