455 on a healthy dose of spray

I love the gas so much that I have one line going to my engine and another one to my helmet. Seriously though, I've been running a 200 hp plate system in my '70 442 successfully for over 15 years. My set-up is a low compression 455 (L-2390's) with E heads, main studs & straps, oil restrictors, "O" ringed block, loose clearances for NOS, 224/234 hydraulic cam, with a heavy race weight of 4,075#. It runs 13.6 on motor and 11.50 on juice with 3.42 gears and 2.5 flowmaster exhaust. Hooker 1-7/8 headers, no-hop bars, RJ12YC plugs, and a complete MSD ignition. The key to survival (and performance) with NOS is a good FUEL SUPPLY and an IGNITION RETARD. It has a Mr. Gasket/Holley mechanical fuel pump for the carb and a dedicated electric fuel pump for the NOS. I run 36 degrees total on the engine, but my MSD 3 step retard pulls 9 degrees of timing out on the gas. Best of all, the engine can run on regular gas for cruising, but I generally use 93 octane for street & strip. I would have liked it to be faster on the motor but I believe the low compression is the secret to survival with a big shot. This motor never pings like most motors with high compression pistons and iron heads. I'll post a picture separately.

This is a picture of my 70 442 HT discussed in the post abov, but I have a 1979 G body Cutlass and the red convertible in the background.

yea i plan to build the engine like a freight train hoping to get in the 12s just on motor

lol, trying to get 12s on a 455 should be as hard as trying to get 14s out of a 350... pretty easy. 😀

just got a line on a 68 olds 350 with #5 heads so the 455 may be on the back burner for a few months

If you're still in the market for some engine parts I still have all the cams and valve train parts I had the last time we spoke. I have two complete 455s,two 403s and one 350, and all sorts of parts for oldsmobile. Let me know if you're intrested and we may can do some dealing.

you wouldnt have any 455 heads would you? if so which ones

just send me a pm of the parts you have to sell
