So today I had to fix the windshield wiper arms on my 2005 nissan titan. I had the hood up which I honstly never have Bc this is the most reliable vehicle I have ever had. 100,000 miles and I have never lifted the hood. Anyhow I quickly noticed that the 5.6 L motor in it looks exactly like an LS motor. Could it be and If not could one be transplanted just like an LS motor? 305Hp and 347 ft/lbs stock!

pretty sure they arent ls based, but a good engine none the less. I attend alot of drifting events and 4 and 6 cylinder powerplants are becoming replaced by v8s. Alot of N/A ls1/ls2/ls6 and even saw an ls1 in a 240sx. Also theyve been using the nissan v8s 5.6, 5.7. and 5.8 versions i think. But most of them use superchargers, you can tell on the drifts cars they just cut a hole in the hood where the supercharger is, easy to spot.

The Nissan 5.6L is a DOHC engine whereas the LSx engines are still traditional OHV (pushrod) engines  The intakes do look very similar though.

the nissan titan engine was/is a popular swap with the nissan crowd, 2 years ago at formula D events at least 2-3 of the cars had the titan engine, IIRC at least 1-2 of them were 350z's.

i just cant see the newer engines and stuff being an easy swap at all, even tho I'm 26 i don't understand the wiring and the dozen or so sensors and stuff.

yeah the intake is what i noticed. do you know how well the bottom end is? Since its a dual over head and 4 valve may it be a better option than an LS in my 442?

I do believe you will be struck down by a higher power if you implant a Nissan engine into a GBody

I am sure its the same level of difficulty as an LSx swap. Your biggest problem will be motor/transmission mounts and exhaust manifolds/headers :|

if i didn't already have a hell of a built big block in my 78, i would have already swapped over to a 6.0 LS motor and trans already. i've seen complete engines in my area with complete wire harness for 5.3 & 6.0 engines with under 80k miles for $600. If the engine ever goes in my 96 Tahoe i am definitely going to swap in an LS engine

A while back I read an article in Car Craft (or Popular Hotrodding) that someone was trying to fit Nissan heads on an LS motor. Apparently they are close enough in size and dimensions to give it a try. I'd have to do some digging to find that article back.
