The big draw back to the Japanese V8's at least the Toyota 1UZ that comes in the Tacoma and some of the Lexus models (which is a fairly popular engine) is that they don't respond to modifications... I can't speak about the Nissan V8's because I haven't heard much about them. Guys that have put them into different sports cars and what not all either kept it very simple, cold air and exhaust, or they go to a programmable stand alone ECM/ECU. The computers on those Japanese V8's won't make adjustments on their own to compensate for significant increases in fuel or air flow beyond very basic modifications... And basically no matter what you do won't make much power. Although once an aftermarket computer is added they are beasts... If you have a couple grand to drop on a Motec or the patience to program a mega squirt and do it yourself then it's a sick idea. If you want it simple, just put a SBC in it with a Q Jet or one of the many after market injection systems on it.
