ok after reading this thread AGAIN....

he's having this problem AFTER putting the CCC stuff on.

remove CCC stuff, put old stuff back on, profit.

simple fix here.

Ummm, he doesn't even have the timing set. You kinda have to do that to make either run right. I am pretty sure he kept the ccc because it would be plug and play.

Youngwhip, was the car running right before you swapped the engine? Are you sure everything was hooked up right?

yes it was running right before the swap...and yes i did take all the ccc things off the 307 and put it on the 330 engine. so i guess i have to go back with the 330 carb and get a non-computer distributor. i have a friend the haves a Pro-comp billet hei distributor for a v8 olds, would this work???

well if the 330 has the stock intake it wont have a provision to screw a temp sending unit for the CCC, making the CCC useless if not everything connected to it isnt connected to what it needs to make decisions. he never mentioned an intake swap.

and pray tell how is he going to set the timing if the CCC wont work right because of possible missing temp sending unit mentioned above? and why bother setting the timing with the CCC crap only to take it out and put another NON CCC distributor in? seems to me he can set timing then, what say you?

CCC distributors dont work right if the brain running it isnt working right either. little things like a missing sending unit can make it go to default and it runs like crap.

so if he didnt do an intake swap then he cant put a sending unit into the water passage. arent the brains usually programmed to operate with a specific cam profile anyway? seems to me GM did that whole cam CPU matching system when they built these cars. oh sure it might still operate but not very well.

and riddle me this batman, what's the pointing of using the CCC stuff on an engine that doesnt need it to run to begin with? that's like pulling a plug wire on your 500 HP engine. sure it'll run but like sh*t.

I'm not advocating to keep the CCC system, as I am one of the biggest proponents of pulling it out. However, it's not that bad of a system on most stock(ish) engines. I doubt the 330 has that much more of a radical cam profile that would really make a difference.

Also keep in mind that this all really only applies to part throttle operation. At full throttle, the CCC system goes into open loop anyway and acts like a non-CCC system.

In my opinion, if your someone that likes to tinker with this kind of stuff then have at it. However in the end, your better off either dumping the system for a non-electronic distributor and carb, or just converting over to EFI.

The coolant temp sensor could be put in the intake, just would be missing the idiot light. Like mentioned before, the computer system has been run on stock to mild 350 engines with no problem. It does not effect full throttle at all, don't see how it would effect power. The point of running the ccc is because it is all there. Not everyone has money to buy a used $40 dollar HEI that needs rebuilt, plus the extra money for a carb that needs completely rebuilt. Why not try to fix what you have when it could be something as little as timing. It could be much more expensive trying to get rid of it.
