Has anyone installed a set of JL Audio C2-690tx 6x9's into their Cutlass? I am asking because I want to know they will fit before buying them. Also where did you guys get the adapters to from 4x10 to 6x9? I bought a set from brand name Scosche and they look pretty shitty.

Ive always used 6x9s for better sound quality then 4x10's. Ive never used the adapter brackets either. Trim a little and create new mounting holes for the hardware. Very easy to do. Ive done it on 5 different g bodys

Blew86442, when you create new mounting holes do you still maintain the factory hidden look? A few people I know mounted their 6x9's from the top on their own cars, but I am not a fan of that look.

That's the way I have always done it, I just trim a notch out and drill new holes and mount them from underneath, you can't see them and because you are not using an adapter there is no interferance with the trunk bars.
You do have to remove the back seat while trimming the notch to do it the right way.
On my Monte I had to move the 6 x 9 speakers inboard and also cut out the oval holes because my rear roll bars go into the trunk where the speakers used to be.

I have a seet of adapters from the 4 x 10's to the 6 x 9's. Found them in a audio shop that has been around for a long time. They use the stock mounting locations and use the spring clip just like the stock stamped brackets. There is actually a set that looks like mine on ebay. the only draw back is the 6x9's have a larger magnet, they come close to the torson bars for the trunk lid

This is what i did as well. it still looks completely factory interior wise.
