I too was looking at 'buying a 700r4' for my olds til I rode in a Cutlass with one and could hear it making annoying thud noises despite my friend best efforts to mount it. I like how the 200r4 is attached solidly with no give anywhere; I'm sure in a crash it would be better to have stock 200r4 there bolted in solid
Sadly if it was was moving around it was not installed or mounted correctly or the cross member was modified in such a way that rigidity it was compromised. A 200-4R will be of more value since they were not as many made. In a Turbo or SC application a 200 is hands down the better choice due to the closer gear ratios keeping the rpm's from dropping too far between shifts. A 700 is much better for larger vehicles due to the 1st gear ratio. Sorry to hear you had issues. For the 700R4 the TV cable function and adjustment is an ABSOLUTE must to the correct operation and longevity of the transmission. I love my 700R4. I have rebuilt it and upgraded and modified it to survive behind my 383sbc, and has held up to a sh*t ton of abuse.
