78 cutlass manuel transmission ???????

Between the 260 and the GM rear gearing, it wasn't meant to set the world on fire.

this car is not for setting the world on fire its just for show and cruising.actully the drive train is pretty smooth and has great acceleration and a blast to drive. its all original except for hood scoop and spoiler and red lower stip, i still have org. hood and deck lid. i have several othr car for setting the world on fire , check out the photobucket link below

im getting ready to build a gn 87 they never had manuels it would be nice if they did but to keep car original ill stick with the auto 🙂

iv'e got some # on this transmission borg-warner 100989 is on top of tag
13-38-025 is on the bottom

any info will be helpful

My Google skills say it's probably a Borg Warner T-50. I pulled the ratios off another forum, and here they are:

Ratios:
First 3.4 : 1
Second 2.076 : 1
Third 1.39 : 1
Fourth 1.0
Fifth 0.80 : 1

It is in NO WAY the same as a T-5. It is much weaker, and was originally designed for the Cosworth Vega, but found it's way into other GM products of the time too. I read that it only weighs 65 lbs, and really can't even take 200hp.

any one know or know how to find out how many of these cars were made with the 260, 5-speed, posi, and bucket seat, black on black
