The seats are from an 87/88 Monte Carlo. I looked them over and they seem rebuildable, but didn't have seat tracks attached.
I would need two bucket seat tracks for the sides near the drive shaft tunnel. It is looking like $400 in upholstery if I re-use the foam; one of the bolsters (side padding - had to look up name) was dog-eared, so might not be able to reuse foam going to all that trouble.
I could probably get the seats for $100 - looking like an expensive rebuild tho.
I contacted ACC directly and got 18x78" of Federal Blue carpet mailed for less than $50 so I could trim out the door panels the same as the carpet, which I bought off RockAuto a year ago. Used the rest of my 3M headliner adhesive and came out well. Bond seems super strong. Unfortunately these aren't going back in until I replace the roller pins in the door hinges. That's a can of worms got to take the front fenders off.
My radiator core support needs to be patched under the petcock. I know a guy that's got a bunch of aluminum core supports and I thought I might ask the group about what would exchange with '78 Cutlass. If I can get one of those core supports at a reasonable price then I might just swap it in. Were these aluminum core supports on early gbodies?
I ordered urethane body bushings and a set of brand new upper lower stock-type stamped front control arms.
I have replaced the rear shocks, rebuilt control arms and all bushings back there and put a sway bar on the stock rear with a 229 ratio. Looks pretty good I'll attach a picture later.
This took about 6 hours mostly cuz I had to figure out how to do it. Needed to enlarge the hole in the bottom of the hinge. The other side shouldn't take 2 hours.
And to commit an unfathomable sin, I'm going to refinish these $100 Monte Carlo SS rally wheels and put a rocket in the center cap. Should go nicely with the blue Monte Carlo SS steering wheel from Sweet_Johnny (complete with citation horn button).
Uh, I thought there was supposed to be a bolt on this body mount under the door jamb. What the hell is this thing? There's also one on the spring perch. Is this a push-through sort of a cushion?
I'd have to go look at the Cutlass, as I don't recall what the El Camino looked like. I did have to cut the door sills open and make new cage nuts for that spot on the Elk, and I think the one near the perch is one of the two that I couldn't get out.
