Well I won't say today was a success but I don't think it was a total failure eather. I got a late start today then left my phone at the auto parts store figured it out after I got on the parkway and had to get off in wall and take back roads back to Lakewood dodging Jersey shore holiday traffic jams it was 12:00 before I got back on track snapped a picture on the way for you circle track lovers

Anyway I finished my hack job exaust so I can start the motor I know it's bad I'll bring it to an exaust shop when I get it on the road

As you already know the hole build is a mixed bag of whatever I have to make it work I really don't think I've ever build a car this cheep that said don't make fun of my used exaust lol
Anyway I finished my vacuum lines to the best of my knowledge I was short 1 T but I'll handle that next week at this point it's the least of my worries. Toped off all the fluids tighten up the belts put a good battery in it and................no fire in the hole I'm wondering if I put the timing chain in wrong ??? I never used this particular brand and ??? Idk brought home the box and instructions keep in mind I have no degree wheel

So my problem besides the water pump leaking is it won't run lol it seems like a timing issue but with #1 TDC the rotor is dead on #1 wire so I'm wondering if I got that timing gear wrong??

It's definitely possible to have the gear 180 out. Did you align the chain/gear with the heads off to verify tdc?

Thanks that's why I try to do everything myself even if it kills me. Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed ya know oh and don't ask for help because everyone says yes but no one does or they screw it up that's what I figure anyway
Don't you just love when people tell you they are going to do this or that and be there at x time to help, and like I say every time its me against the world. No help at all.

That's one thing I've learned about the LS motor when i put it together. There is no dizzy....just the cam and crank sensor. Align the crank at 12, and the cam dot at 6 with #1 at tdc, boom there it is!
