Just talked to a guy that had a set from a 95 s10 and says they will fit.

The guys above are pointing you in the right direction, 78 used one year spindles, 79-88 are the same along with 82/83-94?.

Yep, got a set of s-10 spindles, worked out fine.

I have a 78 wagon and a 78 el camino.

Is there a problem with the 78 spindle or is it just not about to have a bigger brake swap?
You can buy all new wheel bearings and rotors and everything for a 78

It's just that you can't get the big brake kits for it, they only make them for 80 & up. I just swapped in a set of s-10 spindles and solved the problem

There's no problem, just that GM changed the wheel bearings for 1979. It's actually the outer bearing. The spindles physically interchange, and so long as you use the 1978 rotors on the 1978 spindles, everything else fits (calipers, brake pads, etc). It's just that 1978 spindles and rotors are unique from the 1979-1988 parts due to the wheel bearings (and it's really only the outer bearing that's different).

The guy that build my '78 said he had changed the front brakes to the ones from later Caprice Station wagon, I thought he said those are 12" does that mean he changed the spindles also ??
