Hello gentlemen.

I have a decent old Malibu that has been the second object of my affection for many years. It has been set up with a high compression SBC, huge comp solid lift cam, Hooker comp headers, 375 hp double hump heads worked to the max, victor jr intake, Holley 750dp, 4:11 posi Grand National rear end, Holley blue electric pump, TH350 transmission, and many other of common parts everyone with this set up uses.

Recently I noticed a few sparkles on the dipstick. So I pulled the valve covers. My valve lash on 1 and 2 cylinders were out of tolerance pretty far and little tighter as i moved back the engine.

Of coarse the cam is deteriorating. I decided rite then to modernize. Over the past weekend I located a low milage lq4 with a 4l80e 2wd transmission complete with accessories, harness, and drive shaft yoke, worth the money. This came from an 07 g30 chevy box van. It's in the garage now.

The body is strait as it can be, aside from a small dent in the trunk lid, It was painted several years ago and they did something wrong. It has small bubbles all over under the topcoat. I decided to strip that as well. Almost finished strippin her down. I am searching for a good painter.

Any how. I am curious about positioning of the new engine. Many of you guys say 1" back. I do plan on using a/c. The one I have is low on the passenger side. Will I be able 2 do so? Who has the best mounts and will my manifolds fit.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sorry for any redundancy
p.s. pics soon

The guy how built my Malibu did it before many of these parts were available but did a KILLER job of it none the less. He cut the k member part of the frame out for the F body pan as well as the lower passenger side of the frame for the A/C to fit in the stock LS location. It is NOT 1" back, instead he used the stock F body style clam shell mounts and put the "clam" part to the frame and the rubber part to the block. Doing this, I can still run the Pacesetter F body headers (with necessary G body modifications) on it.

Good luck, welcome aboard, and post progress pics. Alex.
