If I were looking for an upgrade and had to stay V6 then I would look for a 4.3L Vortec from a truck or van. You can get carb intakes for fairly cheep and they make a bunch more power. They're also not very hard to find.

The 4.3L likely won't bolt to the BOP TH200.
Everything from the 3.8L should swap onto the 3.2L and vice-versa (except for pistons). I would put your current '79 heads on the 3.8 and depending on the mileage, the 3,8L might need a new cam/lifters anyway, so why not swap the heads, too.
Well at that point you may as well swap in the 700r4/4L60 with the 4.3, if you're doing a swap may as well go whole hog, no?
Yup. But th350 is a MUCH better trans
The worst part is that I never even intended on getting a TH200. I was doing a sight unseen deal on what I thought was a TH350, and I should have paid closer attention to the number of pan bolts...In the county where I ran my olds' you still won't find a 200c in a jy.....I sort of depleted the supply lol
