I know its not a gbody but figured the drivetrain swap will be useful anyways and your guys are gm buffs anyways so you might enjoy watching it anyways. Anyways the story is right now I'm going to pick up my second car in CT later this week (for all of you that dont know, im 17 years old) Anyways the car is a 79 firebird that was originally a pontiac 301 witha metric 200 and neither are in the car as it sits now. The engine was taken out to be rebuilt and along with that a TH 350 was put in the car which i was pretty happy to hear about because that is one less expence for me because i am on a tight budget. The car is a t-top car which is one of the main attractions of the car to me along with it being a classic barn-car. At this point im not definitly getting the car because everybody knows sh*t happens but the chances are damn good that im going to get the car. The plan right now is i found on craigslist a local olds 350 from a 75 cutlass with roughly 60,000 on it. I plan on doing cam, intake, carb, headers, gaskets along with the obvious insurance kind of parts like rear main seal and freeze plugs, stuff like that. Im going to try to keep up on t he engine aspect of the project if i get the car because it can apply to you guys' projects for BOP engines. Im hoping to make at least 250 hp when its all said and done. Im not going to be making the typical TA clone but its gonna stay mainly as from the factory on the exterior except i will do a TA/formula rear wing along with possibly the formula hood if i found the find price. anyways for now i will post some pictures of the car as it sits right now. This car is kind of ironic for me as well because the first car i ever drove was a 79 firebird espirit parts car/rust bucket when i was like 9 so this will be kind of cool to maybe have a nice one.

Those cars just disappeared around here

I had a 73, 77 TA, 80 TA, and an 81 Turbo TA

They were great cars, fun to drive.

Good luck with it

I actually still have a brand new in the box a 79-81 "true" bolt on fiberglass TA Shaker Hood sitting in my garage.

One of my best friends had a '79 Trans Am back in high school, he just sold it a few years ago.

It was a fun car... white with black interior, 403, auto, t-tops.

We just got started on his new project, a '70 Buick Skylark...

It definitely needs a T/A spoiler. Those cars never looked right to me without a rear spoiler.

Good luck, I hope you get it.

Why is the theme to "The Rockford Files" suddenly playing in my head? (and yes, I know it's the wrong color)

good luck on getting it and with the project..

used to have a '78 firebird esprit, so I understand the connection. car looks gr8 for project!

+1 on the t/a spoiler!

I kinda have a soft spot for the late(and early) 2nd gen f-body. This was my last project before I got my first bu. Keep us updated.

If you need a spoiler,shaker, subframe, I know " a guy".

Can't find a Pontiac for it?

well this sucks to say but the day before i was going to CT to go pick up the car, i talk to the guy to make sure the plans are still a go to pick it up and what does he say, o i sold the car today, so thats pretty much it, i was barely too late
