so, yesterday, after a day of practically swimming through junkyards, me and a friend of mine see this gem sticking out in the parking lot of the yard.
a 79 grand lemans with dog dish hubcaps.
we get closer and he points out that it's a stickshift.
pop the hood and there's a 301 and a non a/c heater box.
i get in the car and start shifting thru the gears, and it's a 3 speed!
has anyone ever seen one of these? this car was a true time capsule. it was all original, seemed to be rust free, though i didn't get under it, as it was half way in a puddle. red vinyl buckets, console, full gauge dash
i've been thinking about this car since i saw it yesterday. the best part is that it is for sale. $1500 takes it home. running and driving.
it appeared to be a 9c1 package, though i have no way to confirm that, just by looking at the options of the car as well as the appearance.
i would have bought it myself, but having just lost my job, i dont' have the money for it, and i think my wife would have killed me if i had.
if anyone wants to call about it it's at brockton used auto parts on thatcher st in brockton, ma 508-584-4001
i took some pics:

I've heard of these, but thought they were with the V6.
Blue with red interior, manual with buckets I'd say it was a special order. Wonder how many of these were built.
I'd like to have this one as a daily driver.

Holy freakin sh*t!!! I went through hell finding a 301 flywheel and there's one just sitting there. It also answers my question about stick shift and consoles. Even though it has a console, it still uses the hump with a boot like my Malibu had. I'm drooling over this and contemplating a road trip.

Right? That car is awesome!

If I was on the east coast, that car would already be mine... 😀

I would gladly sell my Caprice for that thing!

Maybe it's time for my uncle in CT to help me wrangle another car...

And a fourspeed Saginaw would slip right in place of that 3 speed.

I love the car! But who in their right mind would order a Blue car with a Red interior? I guess it was the 70's. I'm thinking maybe Cocaine was a bit of an influence?

the car is black. the photos made it look blue. it looks like it might have been a detective car or a chief's car or something. either that or a special order sleeper! i've been thinking about this car for two days now, today will be the third!
