I have a GM 10 bolt rear axle that has a factory limited slip differential. The differential could be used in an axle you have with no problem. This axle is the coil spring type. This could be out of a Chevelle, Monte Carlo, Cutlass Skylark, Regal. I am not sure because I did not take it out of the car. The axle is on the rough side if you want to use it and it is missing an axle. This is really a parts axle. If alI my math is correct a 16-41 is should be a 2:52 ratio. I am selling this as a parts axle. So if you want any part of this let me know and I will take it off. So for $50. you can get the rest of the axle or any part. I see they sell all the rebuild parts on ebay. Call 734-261-5615 Leave message

good deal for a posi 8.2" rear.

the cover says 8.2, but iircc, an 8.2 cover will fit an 8.5 rear end. i don't know about the rest. spring perches are centered over axle tube, uc bushings are too far forward and shock mounts appear to face the front. its not from a '64-72 a-body, '65-70 chevy b-body and not a g-body. if it wasn't for the cover i would say it is from a '73-77 a-body.

the 8.2 is a great rear end, it'll handle up to 500 hp, it's lighter and cheaper than a 12 bolt. If you get one the only thing you need to check is the thrust washers on the pinion gears. They had a recall on them cause the material would prematurely wear. On my 8.2 the thrust washers were paper thin so they had never been changed

I thought only the 8.5 had the square lugs on the bottom, also I believe thats the gasket over the oil ports if you look at the other side you can see where the gasket is missing.... I could be wrong

What I know about ID 10 bolts maybe little but.....
All of them ( that I have seen) have the holes at the side between the bolts. This is for lube to get to the outside bearings easier.
Make sure the gaskets has the holes. In the mid 90's there was a recal on cruisers and fleets for this gasket. There was no hole and with out turning lube did not get to the bearing causing failure. I had 3 SS rears this way.
As most of you know, the 8.5 have the big triangle ears hanging down at the back. 7.5 has the little "horns" hanging down.
The 8.2 has 2 "bites" in this area, half moons, like a 12 bolt.
BOP 8.2 tend to have the irregular cover and 2 "locating holes" on either side of the cover. The chevy has plug welds at this point.

I can't guarantee this info but it has worked so far. Here some more info
