Do you happen to know the part number for the u u joint?

It's been so long I don't remember. I ended up measuring the ends and looking through a list of part numbers with sizes that I downloaded off the internet. There are also several different sizes of the Ford pinion flange, so you really need to measure what you have first.

I tried doing everything myself without a real press and ended up screwing up the first u joint I bought. I took the flange and drive shaft to a local drive line shop and they pressed in a new one for less than it cost me to buy one from the parts store. If you have a place like that local to you, it might just be easier to have them match it up for you real quick.

Good luck!

Ok thanks for the info. So how has the rear held up? Any issues?

I've been pretty busy at school so I've only made three passes at the drag strip so far. To date it has performed flawlessly just cruising around. It ran a best of 8.60 in the 1/8th mile with a 2.0 sixty foot. I don't know if it was the track, my car, or the tires, but I cut a 2.00 sixty foot on all three passes. It didn't mater how big a burn out I did or how much tire pressure I let out. I set all of the suspension parts to the baseline included in the instructions. When I get bored one of these days I'll actually get under there and measure everything to get the instant center right.

The set up is pretty simple. I bought a stock LT1 motor out of a 95 Trans Am for $400 and found a rebuilt th350 that came with a 3600 converter for $300. I found a perfect 8.8 Ford rear end for $80. heh.. The control arm kit is the single largest purchase I've made for the car. They cost more than I have in either the engine or transmission. lol

I've been back to tinkering on my 89 Mustang lately so the Buick hasn't been getting as much attention.

I found a picture from the track that day. I ended up buying a pair of aluminum wheels off an S10 pickup for $20. They are 15" x 7" in the back with some 26" x 10.5" ET Streets that I had sitting around. I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but I've been told with the stock rear end that this tire/wheel combination would not be possible. The Ford rear end moves the wheels about an inch off the frame on each side. These fit with no problems or modifications at all.
