I'm doing a 8.8 swap in my 83 Elcamino. I've read some post on here about this and still have questions. I'm thinking of using the roto joints on my control arms but have concerns after reading the spherical rod ends make some road noise, wondering if roto joints do the same? If I use all roto joints will I need a pan hard bar (don't think I will but not 100%)? I'm going to weld in upper adjustable control arm bucket brackets for Ic fix and help in traction department. My axle has disc brakes, what do I do with the parking brake cable? Do I need to do anything with portion valve? My plans for is this car is a ls swap street/ strip machine and auto x is looking very appealing. I've built a regal drag car but was not concern about anything but going straight and fast, but after selling that my street car will have to pull double duty. Also was going to upgrade rear springs but not sure what I have. The previous owner torched the front springs to lower it. I replaced them some years ago with 2" lowering springs. This makes my car set level, which I like, but I don't know if the back was modified. The car measures 13" from center of axle to fender lip. Anybody know if this is factory height, or how much this is lowered? Also considered coil over rear suspension, anybody got any pictures of this? Thanks for any help.

I will tell you, most of this is NOT experience based, but what I've read as I'm also swapping a disc brake 8.8 into a g body.

Roto joints shouldn't make noise and you shouldn't need a panhard bar. However, on the lower control arms on the axle side you will need some spacers because the bracket it wider than a g body lower control arm bracket. You will also need spherical upper housing ears. I have been told that the stock prop valve works fine in this situation. As for the parking brake, I'm planning to hook the stock cables to it, then make a bracket off the rear to support the cable housing end and see if it works. I got the trick chassis upper control arm kit with the relocation buckets and plan to run stock g body type lowers with spacers on the axle side so I can run a sway bar.
