what's up everyone. i recently acquired an 81 buick regal that used to be my fathers, but is now passed down to me. It is not drive-able at the moment. The car has basically been sitting in a garage for almost 20+ years and has only been started up here and there but not necessarily driven around. From what i have seen and with the help of others, it needs a new carburetor, bumpers, front windshield, new fluids, new hoses and whatever else i have written down. any help or advice that can further me to getting this car back up and running would be greatly appreciated. thanks again. (will be adding pics in a few days.)

Welcome!

Just curious what engine it is? The fact that the engine was started periodically is a good thing so that it didn't set up. The brakes however are probably set and may need to be freed up along with the ebrake if it was used. Tires will likely be dry rotted. Vacuum lines will be shot. You will for sure want to replace every fluid in the car starting with the engine oil moving on to the transmission fluid then the power steering fluid then the coolant and last the rear end fluid. Check over those brakes and everthing associated with them such as lines and hoses and rear wheel cylinders. More than likely this stuff will need replacement.

its a 3.8L V6. yea i figured all that would need replacing. now it's time to get down to business.

beautiful car, defin shown some love in it's life! those bumper "fillers" are easy to get, just be prepared to be charged an arm, leg, and first born male child!

Nice ride .. Hope get everything done . change engine oil and running . then start on brakes . At least will be able to move around garage safely while doing all other stuff

thanks for the comments everyone. been doin some work on it the past couple day such as draining some fluids and a few other things. anyone know if there is a difference between the carburetors that were put in 81 regals as opposed to 85 regals? a couple of buddies snagged a carb off an 85 recently but the carb in the car right now is not the correct one at all so i don't really have anything to compare it to.
