Hey guys!!! I'm new on this forum and as i'm currently working on my '81 GP, i'd like to start with this customizing question: Aside of the fact that i have to cut off 1/2 inch on each side of the nose and bumper, is it possible to fit a resized (and reshaped on its top) 1977 Grand Prix front end (not the fenders, juste the nose) on my '81??? I guess that i have to use some 1978 fenders since the '77 nose is higher than mine, right??? And using those '78 fenders, it'll make my front end a little shorter between front wheels and bumper, i guess (wich i'd like too)? Big thanks in advance!

Here's a pic of what i want on my GP:

That would be incredibly hard, if not impossible. Those A-Body GPs are absolutely huge compared to the G-Bodies. (Several inches narrower, shorter, and 600 lbs lighter). I think it might be easier taking the nose off a 78 - 80 model and reshaping the fiberglass to make it look like a 76 to 77's. Most of that should fit or can be made to fit the 81. If you can accomplish this, then I will bow to you, sir. :notworthy:

But could it be possible to CUT down an original nose to make a master and have it recasted in fiberglass? Also, just by curiosity, can the doors be fitted on a G-Body?? Always wondered about that one....

I don't think you could cut it down at all without having to drastically rework the entire thing. Maybe you could remove the parking lamp between the headlights and move them to another location but all the angles on that will make it next to impossible to try to shorten it any other way. I think what you should try doing is parking your G-Body GP next to an A-Body GP with that nose (76 and 77, the 76 just has different grill line spacing) and see how much of a size difference you're looking at.

As for the doors, no way. Those things are much longer and bulkier. If the doors could fit then you would be able to use them and just alter the car or door's body lines to match up.

Don't let me discourage you though. If you can find a way I'd love to see it. That year model GP is actually one of my favorites ever made and nearly picked one up for $400 back in 97. I had to pass it up because i needed a car that had reverse...

Loved the 76/77 GP. Have no idea if it's possible but I agree if a smaller version was made to for a g.it would look amazing. Not a fan of the Chevy ralleys though.
