81 Malibu project restarting

The car has rust in the windshield channel from a bad replacement. If it wasn’t done poorly, the floors would still be mint.
I'm sorry to hear that man, I would be pissed at the shop that did it.

I bought it with the windshield in it. I uncovered the rust over the winter. I knew it had a hole under the wiper motor when I got it, but I filled it. The cat was garage kept 99% of the time I’ve owned it, until I moved in 2018. Then it sat outside for almost a year. That really accelerated the rusting.

So I hit the floor with a wire brush tonight. I have some floor pieces from the h/o, but not enough. I’m heading to the Englishtown swap meet tomorrow. Ill see if I see something there otherwise I think I’ll order a driver’s side floor.

Finished up harvesting the brackets from the h/o floor today. I cut a few pieces out to make patches for the rear section of my floor. I ordered a section for the drivers front floor this weekend. Hopefully I’ll get this tackled by the first week in May. My son won’t be too happy if we don’t take “the white car” to the car show.

While waiting on the floor section to come in I started on the drivers door jamb area. Didn’t get a pic of the rust before cutting it out. I used a piece of a 67 skylark fender I got at work to make the patch. I’ll weld it in tomorrow.

Got the patch welded in and ground down tonight. Need to grind it down a little more, but it’s time to knock off for the night. I’ll sit out here a little longer to be sure nothing happens from the sparks. I have to clean up the plate that gets welded on from the backside anyway before I weld that on.

Been waiting for the floor patch to come. It was supposed to be here by 5/3 and never showed. When I looked into it further, it still hasn’t shipped. Ordered from a guy on eBay with good feedback, so I thought I was good. 3 emails and no response. So pissed right now.

After 2 days of messaging the seller they told me fedex lost my package and they would ship it out today or tomorrow. I told them it needed to go out today, or I’d leave them bad feedback. They refunded me my money and said I was being unreasonable. I felt they weren’t being honest with me. I found a company with a full drivers side in stock so I ordered it. Pain in the *ss. Hopefully I get the parts soon. Sucks having the car up on jack stands in the spring.
While waiting I’m cutting so I can fab some of the bracing that’s rotted.
