So glad my car isn’t painted, or even close. Some how a jack stand fell off of its hook and hit my fender. Lucky for me I was going to redo the bodywork on it. I let a kid I used to work with fix it last year when I was priming the nose.

Rear window is back in. Was such a sketchy drive to work with the back glass taped in. I was going 50 on the highway and kept stopping to check the tape. It wasn’t moving but I was really second guessing my choice to do the install at work. Everything went well and I can put the moldings back on as soon as the correct clips come in.

I mounted the drivers side fiero mirror tonight. The bases need to be filed a little to fit the contour of the Malibu door, but for free they were well worth it. I like the way they fit the car much more than the originals.

You could've used the late model El Camino base gaskets. They fit the contour of that top body line/ crease.

That’s what I have, but the mirrors aren’t creased. I’m going to file them to fit a little better.

No, I know. The bases have a flat base surface, but the proper gasket is contoured to straddle the crease. I had a pait of those mirrors that were originally going to go on my car, but decided not to use them. I started to mount one and drilled the necessary holes. It fit without having to mod the base gaskets.
And again, the base gaskets were for the '86+ El Camino.

I have the proper gaskets, so we’ll see how it goes. I still think I may file the contour into the mirror base. They seem like they aren’t going to fit 100%. I have to make an angles spacer for the backside so that I can tighten the nuts down all the way before I know how they’ll fit.

When I was initially fitting the mirrors, I would remove the studs in order to help achieve the proper angle. I see some guys mount these mirrors cockeyed.
What were the mirrors off of originally? Mine were from a Monte SS.

I got these from a fiero. They might be a little different.
I took the studs off of the passenger mirror to fit it and misplaced them in my garage over the winter.
