Need some help and advice! Has anyone switched from fender mount antenna to window type on G-body? Getting new windshield on build and would have to know what has to be changed ? The other thing is dash issues. One idea is cutting and installing some type of insert in the damaged area. The other would be I guess fixing. I dropped of some plastic for color match and so painting color won't be a problem. Last thing today is I got a 87 SS someone was working on and it had a new steel cowl hood from Tri Plus. It sits up way to high at the windshield area, above fenders, it seems like it won't work. Any ideas here? Top center of dash.

Can provide some insight on the windshield antenna.
I changed my 86 El Camino due to not having the heart to cut holes in new GM front fenders. Aside from a windshield, you need to drill a hole at the center of the base of the cowl at the bottom of the windshield. There will be a blank area with dimpled punches for location. Through this hole passes the antenna lead which is still available new from Rock Auto. Goodmark GMK4012170701. Just be sure to plug the hole in the cowl left from the fender mount antenna.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Bob! I spoke with windshield rep and they thought there was something near the passenger headliner. She sa

She said something about a button near the passenger headliner?
I do not recall any button near the passenger headliner.
When I changed the 86 El Camino I used my 79 Monte Carlo as a guide for the change over. The antenna lead at the base of the windshield and the windshield itself were the main changes made. The antenna lead from the windshield should be in the center bottom of the glass and attach to the lead you installed in the body.

Thank You very much sir!
I was looking through all my photo's from the El Camino and of course the detailed shot of this could not be found.

Ok, I know exactly where those holes are, thanks. Now anyone have any insight on the other questions, dash or hood issue? Did anyone here use the Tri Plus hood? I haven't tried it on the 81 but that is what I want it on and not sure what would be different? Thanks
