Ok.guys car came with tow package and can the trans and rearend hold.up or must I replace both and if so crates go a rough 300 hp and 350 ft. lbs what trans is gonna be the least headache.going with vacuum advance dizzy or points also ca I use tenbolt or do I have.to find a 12 2.xxseries rearend on,car now

First off, is it a 350 olds block or sbc. Also, you might want to build that th350 with a shift kit. The 300 horse isnt a whole lot, but dep. on shape of trans, and your driving habits, it might not hold long. Or you can run a 200r4 which will bolt right in, and you can run a lockup switch and you'll have overdrive. finally, you dont want points go with hei

Im gona go with a chevy 350 not gonna do a lotta standing on the loud pedal just a cruiser maybe the occasional burnout but no racing just tired of the sleepy 6 how would I convert the comp would I just switch it for a 305 or a 307 would love to do a buick swap tho just not sure if it will fit as easily.in the engine bay

Also trans is fresh rebuild as when bought the car the trans was blown and already have reversemanual valvebody and 2500 stall as I have been in plans to boost the 3.8 but I got into the 82xxx mile motor too hard and have since come to find the rocker are demolished and would rather.have a v8 anyhow

If you went with the chevy 350, youd need an adapter to use that th350 b/c of dif't bolt patterns. If i were you Id sell/ trade it for a 200r4. Same bolt pattern, plus overdrive, and same length as the th350 so no drive shaft adjustments like the 700r4.
As for the buick swap, i believe a olds or buick small block will bolt right in the spot of the 3.8, but i could mistaken

Forgive me im using my phone. Im trying to figure out what modifications I will need to drop a chevy 350 in my 83 four door cutlass supreme. The car came factory with the 3.8 v6 and the th350c lockup transmission also came car factory with a small 2.78 or something of the like rearend. Can the transmission (fresh rebuild with reverse manual valve body and 2500 stall) as well as the tiny rear axle ratio be used? or must I install a turbo 350 transmission and 3.23 rearend ratio will these hold up to cruising? Also would just swapping in a buick350 be simpler as im assuming the mounts would be the same as the v6 ?

assuming the mounts are the same, and im pretty sure that they are, it would be alot simpler to just drop in the buick 350. The 2.78 rear should be fine, but you should think about upgrading, but not too high b/c you dont have overdrive w/ the th350.

Also can anyone point in a good direction of a good crate motor supplier or am I better off to find a buick 350 and build it myself ? Hard to find in cincinatti area of ohio that havent been hammered to desth ive already looked at several engines of public owners all seem to have something seriously wrong !
