A couple months ago, there was a guy selling an '86? 442 T-top w/a 350 Chevy (I know, blasphemy) TPI, either 200R4 or 700R4 w/shift kit, 8.5" posi w/3.73's, and some other goodies in perfect running condition. It was garaged, clean, etc. If it HADN'T been a T-top car, I would have dropped everything to go see it, but I was heading out of town for a few days. He took a deposit the night before I returned. His price? $4,995 OBO. As much as I hate T-tops, I kind of regretted missing out on it. That car worth $3,500?

I have a Hurst Maple Interior if you ever consider buying that car and need items.
I gutted the maple interior in my 84, I'm going with the 83-84 Royal blue or the Sand Gray.

I hate maple interiors they only look good when they are new, when they fade they look like a can of ham... :puke:

I paid 1500 for a rusted out 84 with no motor... But considering the fire damage, I would only be interested in using the car for parts... I wouldn't pay over $750 for the car. Your best bet may be buying the car and parting it out... I would give a couple hundred for the wing easily.

rear end is worth a grand and the lighting rods with console complete are worth a easy 500, transmission if good and the 200r4 which i think it is maybe 4-500 BUT that car is not worth 3500 unless the rest of it is flawless, as in rust free doors, floors, rockers....... engine wiring would not be hard at all to find nor would front sheet metal. heck, save it! just dont give 3500 for it! me personally might give 1500 tops

oh, lack of t tops is a down fall especially on a hurst! t tops are one of the coolest things ever for a g body!

Dammnow he wants 4250 for it! WOW wonders never cease these days...... I am jealous of the rest of the body, but remember it has been a Minnesota car, so I wonder what has been fixed prior to him getting it. My 82 I have was sold to a little old lady in 2000 and who ever sold it worked her over. They had RE- Undercoated the car and spray bombed evrything black to "freshen" it up. They also did a bunch of bondo work on the frame rails to hide the gaaaapping rust holes. If nobody buys it I have a feeling he will be calling me again to sell it at a much lower price I hope!!!!

i wouldnt be so worried about it being from minnesota, its a hurst olds and a good majority of them were well maintained and garage kept, chances are it is solid. people say that the cars in the midwest are more rusty which may be true but i have seen some in nebraska where i live that are not taken care of and are still solid and i have seen cars from the south that have rust in some very odd spots and were garage kept. i have found that country cars that are on dirt roads allot are the worst, all that dirt gets into the underside and moisture collects there and eats it away while the rest of the car can look flawless. i think he is high on his price, look online i have seen hurst olds in decent shape for under 5 grand

I know about the dirt roads..... Thats what got my frame, gas tank still had the dirt where the lip turns up! It came from the western part of the the state and then went to a mountain home. Like you said the cars look different when taken care of. My interior was perfect except where the paint wore off of the top dash and package tray. Like a time capsule, and the body wasnt really that bad......
