i actually ended up buying this car, had a rod knock, bad alternator, bad center link, leaking rear brake hose, some clear fade on roof and trunk, 151k miles on it. Guy was very tough to get ahold of. I was the first guy who can to look at it. Inside is very nice, needs window felts but other than that the car is in very good shape
I just pulled the motor the other day, gonna do a nice rebuild on it, i was looking at a couple of rocket 350s for it but i decided its easier and cheaper just to rebuild the stock one.
It honestly looked better in the pics but for the price it was ok (i ended up paying 2800 for it, guy said he got higher offers so he wanted more money, but i was too concerned about it. I have my own shop in south jersey so the mechanical aspect of it is cheap and easy, and the guy i rent from has a body shop, so he is gonna reshoot the roof and trunk/spoiler for now, the side paint looks great.
I'll keep you guys posted about it

So your the asswipe that beat me to it??? LOL Just messin with ya.. Good luck with it.
I got an e-mail from him saying that the buyer backed out and then got another one a few hours later that said he sold it for $2800...
He never did answer the question of "what did needs work mean"

Well its a funny story, i saw the car on craigslist (this is how all my money problems start haha) and decided it was worth looking at it. Finally got ahold of the guy, he wouldnt talk on the phone or give the address, took like 12 emails to finally set up a meeting. I go with my friend and his dad, car needs work but looks ok, and my friends dad agrees to buy it. I wanted it but i knew it wasnt a good time to blow money so i let my friends dad jump on it. My friends dad talks to him, and then backs out the last minute. Since i was using my email to arrange everything, the guy tells me my friends dad backed out and knew i liked the car and gave me dibbs before he answered his other emails. Now i just had two good weeks at the shop and im known for making g-body impulse buys, so i ran over and picked up the car. Then alot happened to me over the next week so money was real tight so i thought about just reselling the damn car, but things straightened out, and then i just pulled the motor. Spun bearing on number 8, motor has 151k miles so it really needed a rebuild anyway. Sent out the crank and pistons/rods, getting them redone and putting it all back together stock. Car doesnt have the original trans (doesnt have OZ, it has the CQ Code (85 monte ss)), but its the same caliber trans so its all good. Needs window felts, other than that inside is great. Gave me some extra parts, and it just needs minor stuff otherwise. All in all a decent deal.

Well good luck with the car and the money issues. This would have put me in a serious bind too... But I too am quite guilty of the impulse thing. The original trans in those things were junk anyway in my opinion. We bought one new in 83 and by 84 it had been back to the dealer several times with transmission problems. But back then the guys at the dealerships couldn't even operate the shifter.... much less fix the trans.
