So a little update. I got the car running with the incorrect carb i rebuilt for temporary purposes. We changed the cap, rotor, plugs and wires and she started right up. Problem most likely was accelerator pump on old carb but the cap and rotor showed some signs of oxidation so i changed it. The coil looks terrible all rusty and i was sure it was bad but nope worked so i left it for now
still have to get the correcr carb which i am ordering this week then i will time it

I used taylor wires and ngk plugs

New carb
Decided to pick up the carb i need from national carburetor. After core it cost me 189 plus shipping with warranty

I figured it was money well spent. Rather than pay 50-70 for a used carb and 30 for a rebuild kit plus all my time i figured this was better

They have every carb you can think of

if you're still running the computer, you may still have some issues, since the computer won't have a throttle signal to adjust timing....

if you're not running the computer, I can understand why it ran like garbage....

that's a better price for a good carb than you'll ever find at a parts store, may have to go that route!

Have a 1986 with the factory 307 Olds. That's the optional V8 engine you got in 1986 and 1987, if I'm not mistaken standard in Limiteds. Nothing has really been altered on mine.

What type of Champion radiator did you get/use? 2, 3, or 4 row? Was thinking about a 3 or 4, but that may be overkill and possibly counteractive in cooling. The 2 row is about as much as a stock replacement. The original has been green since I bought it almost 12 years ago.

I went with the 2 row since this car is mostly stock and going to be a daily driver. I thought the same, 3 or 4 might have been overkill for me

Man, your old carb was straight garbage! Any carb is better than that thing.

Hey everybody. Been a while since i posted an update. Been pretty busy but still chuggin along with the regal. Its running great with the new carb

I moved on to interior. I had water coming in every time it rained under glove box. So with the help of previous posts on here i found out what it could be. Removed the screen and no doubt the little drain flap was clogged with 30 years of crap Cleaned it up and used some 3M sealer to reseal around firewall and leak stopped.

On to the painting trim

(So i messed up on previous post and hit post reply mid sentence and seem illiterate but i swear i can kinda read)

The trim was painted tan but PO just painted right over old crap. I used ez strip and it worked great. Took it all right off
Then i used the SEM line of prep and paint and clear coat in pic.

We are doing two tone light buckskin and saddle tan
Most of the interior will be lt buckskin but the armrests, carpet on the lower door panel and front windshield speaker trim filler piece will be saddle tan. Im still undecided on glove box

I realize pics are not in correct order and im too lazy to fix it. Also i suck at documenting progress because quite frankly once i start working i dont like to stop and take pics.
Im excited about the way the trim came out and think it will look awesome once its all installed

Any feedback would be appreciated as always. Thanks
