I got the right transmission mount and got the rear axle put back in with new bushings. Also I got a set of basically rust free doors that are off a GN. There's just a few little specs of rust at the bottm. $50 for the pair. A friend of mine works for a restoration shop. I'll post a few pics sometime. Next I'm going to get some new brake and fuel lines and try bending them myself.

Here's a few pics of my progress. Just got the new bushings installed and new backing plates for the drums. Money is tight so I used the old rear springs. The diff. cover was only $8.00 and the old one was really pitted. A lot of the POR-15 peeled off. Like the whole pumpkin. I didn't clean it up good enough so I cleaned it again and just sprayed it with rust-oleum 'til I get an 8.5" or something.

I started patching the floor on the gutless. I went to school for autobody but we never learned how to patch stuff and fix rust. It's not that bad. I was kinda scared of it at first. My friend who gave me the car is helpin me out. It's just gonna take a lot of time. It needs lots of patches and the whole trunk floor needs to be fabricated. The trunk was too far gone to patch. I hope this is worth all the work. I've never even drove this car before, let alone a g body. I've always liked them though.

Keep it up everything looks good. You just inspired me to take my Cutty off the frame. Thanks. I cant wait to see some more progress, I know it's all about the money. Same here.

Thanks guys. Yeah, money is a little tight for now. Tomorrow I am putting the transmission pan back on. The first filter I tried was a lot different from the one I took off, which was square. The new filter was a weird shape and the screws were too short. It might have worked if I had longer screws. IDK Something was not quite right. So I am gettin the right one tomorrow. I need to get a driveshaft and get brake and fuel lines too. Those might have to wait. There isn't any junkyards around with gbodies around me. The floors are gonna take a lot of time to fix. I'd rather get a better body i think. Thanks again. I didn't know how much was involved with a frame off, but mine needed it badly. Take your time and do it right and you will have a car you can be proud of. Hopefully I will too.

The best part is the skills you are perfecting as you go. I would like to get a car like the old 442 that is listed on the FS section and strip it and re-do it. I already have a nearly mint '83 Hurst Olds, but I would like to do a car or two like these that aren't gonna completly kill the value if you make a minor mistake. Then, later down the road, I want to try a bigger project like rebuilding an '84 H/O to match.

Yeah, I'm defintely workin on those skills. Right now I am working on getting all the brakes from the prop valve back done. The lines are really bad in some spots. I can't believe they didn't leak. Everything prop. valve back has to be replaced. One of the wheel cylinders I might be able to reuse, but I might just as well replace it too. Even the drom backing plates were rusted through. One of the wheel cylinders was basically held in by the brake line! I'm still bendin lines, and gettin a little better at it.

I have the brake lines done. I got new wheel cylinders, calipers, hoses and clips. I just need new clips for the hard lines. I stripped the threads out of my passenger side spindle putting the new caliper on! I haven't really done too much for pictures. I still need tie rods and adjusting sleeves. I picked one tie rod up yesterday. I just get one or two parts every paycheck. It's a slow process that way, but I still am getting a few parts closer to finishing it every few weeks. Next after tie rods I'm gonna start on fuel lines. My pump has a return and my tank doesn't. Should I plug the return, get a pump without one, or run a line back to the tank and drill a hole or something for it? I know fuel injection needs a return, and I have a carb. I would like to get the Fast ez-efi throttle body for it someday though. Also a guy I used to work with has some parts for me. Not a radiator, but the hold down, fan shroud, driveshaft, a/c compressor bracket and probably a few other things. hopefully a rear sway bar too.
