Interesting stuff, thanks again. I was reading a thread somewhere where a guy was saying he was part of the design team on the 200 metric and that it seemed if they made it past 30000 miles they would be mostly all set and that they were doing recall work on the ones that failed before that and after being rebuilt they'd last over 100k no problem. I'll try and find the link to it, it was an interesting read. It also said the 200 4speed has almost all the same internals just with the added overdrive.

Went and checked it today. It's the THM-200. Also did some more research on trying to free up the stuck 231 V6 and I'm pretty sure that's going to be where I start, that way if I can get it running then it'll be easier to use and fix up while I source a bigger transmission for a 350 down the road but still enjoy the car in the meantime without sinking a bunch of money into it right off the bat.

Hello & welcome from Toronto, Canada.
Nice Cutlass!
If you don't beat on it & nurse it, you might be able to run the 200 for a little bit. 4-speed gives you an overdrive for highway driving, combined with a lock- up converter will give you better fuel mileage & lower RPM at highway speeds.
Good luck & update us on your progress.
