Why not add a set of flat police caps, or even the older disc brake rally caps? I think it would look cool with the black painted rims.Pleased enough with how the wheels came out and it was a good simple learning project for my son. Satisfied with the rims/tires now.
I have 3 of the smooth caps and ordered a 4th which didn't fit. Kinda waiting to run in to a set at the next swap meet or flea market. What not add a set of flat police caps, or even the older disc brake rally caps? I think it would look cool with the black painted rims.
I originally had them on my car years back with rally wheels. The caps I had were OEM GM corporate parts used on taxis and police cars. They have a cool look.I have 3 of the smooth caps and ordered a 4th which didn't fit. Kinda waiting to run in to a set at the next swap meet or flea market.
Holy smokes! Mind blowing chop from a 305. Lol
Here's some clips of it idling. Not sure what cam its got in it, but it's lumpy! Maybe a Thumpr but it is still a lot of cam as it has very low vacuum and really opens up in higher rpms. I think the Summit China dual plane is limiting it's potential, oh and the fact that it's a 305. I have yet to pop the valve covers and check the head casting #s. For now it runs great for a 305 and has a nasty cam!
I've got the smooth ones. My son keeps bugging me about them, he likes the actual vette ones also. Unfortunately no more super Chevy, I went to the last or one of the last a few years ago as the old Moroso track is right down the street from me. Everything went downhill after they made it Palm Beach International Speedway. Their last event was the beginning of last year I believe. There are talks about building a new track about 15 minutes from me, the old one was 30.I originally had them on my car years back with rally wheels. Of course they do make them aftermarket without the Chevy bowtie in the center, so they shouldn't be too difficult to find.
Do they still do the Super Chevy Shows down in South Florida? I think it was West Palm if I'm not mistaken.
Yes it's a bit much. It might be a Thumpr but its still an aggresive cam as it likes the higher rpm's.Holy smokes! Mind blowing chop from a 305. Lol

Yeah, I had a sneaky suspicion that they shut down Super Chevy down there at Moroso Park. Just haven't heard much over the years. I used to attend the event here in Gainesville, but that also went the way of the Buffalo nickel.I've got the smooth ones. My son keeps bugging me about them, he likes the actual vette ones also. PBIR is permanently closed!Yeah, I had a sneaky suspicion that they shut down Super Chevy down there at Moroso Park. Just haven't heard much over the years. I used to attend the event here in Gainesville, but that also went the way of the Buffalo nickel.
I guess the Palm Beach international speedway is a larger draw bringing in a lot more revenue.
As for the Corvette style derby caps, I had a set of them on my car when we moved down here. Some douchebag stole them right on my driveway. That's when I replaced them with the flat police caps. I also fashioned my own locking system using steel cable attached to a large washer bolted down by one of the lug nuts.
