The wire would have eaten the rubber due to the tighter tolerances in that window recession. When I got the passenger window quarter out there were chunks of the rubber on that side missing from what looks like a wire tool. I found the easiest way was to tackle it from inside slowly cutting the urethane back.
 
As for the front suspension I'm really researching c6/c7 steering and suspension components
If you have the money you might want to look at Dobbertin for adapters for the Corvette suspension to make it an easy bolt on.
