hey.............I wrote to GM canada, and they sent me a information package on my 85 cutlass salon. according to the info they sent me
1,437 cutlass salons made for canada in 85
298 with t roofs ( option code cc1 )
only 44 painted in burgandy metalic
just wondering if you got your package from GM in the USA, if it would tell you something like this
Call 800-222-1020 (GM) and ask for a "restoration packet" for your car. Have your VIN number and mailing address ready and then wait anxiously by the mailbox

All the car's original options can be determined by the codes listed on the trunk lid sticker. Make sure the VIN on the sticker and the VIN on your car match, as someone could have changed the trunk lid if you are not the original owner
Can you scan/post that by chance? I also have GM Canada documentation, but they only narrowed it down to how many SS's came to Canada in 85 (901). I have never seen anyone get official GM numbers on options and the story is that GM never even kept track of options.
Plans so far are, i was debating to do a full MSD tune up or keep it stock.
Opted for the stock tune up bc its a stock 307, not to much you can do with it. right now it has dynomax mufflers..lookin to put borla or magnaflows on it.
Trying to find a 350 to build up. Once i get that, build that, do full exhaust, have a really nice street car.
If anyone has an tips on an Olds 350. Foward them to me!

It pounds down the fuel at about 7 to 10 mpg. The 850 is too much and needs to be jetted down a bit. Never had it down the track, but it pulls really hard on the street. Its kind of a hike to BIR(130 miles) so probably next year.
Ouch I bet you don't take her out on too many long commutes. You probably have a fair amount of camshaft to. I am told that even with big blocks that when you get close to about 240@50 duration that they really start to suck a lot more fuel and their isn't much you can do about it. The other summer I took my Cutlass about 450 miles following a buddy in a diesel truck. He ran 70-75 mph and I was surprised it pulled down 17.0 mpg. I think I was taching about 2,500/2,600. But in town only gets 11 or 12. That was with the 200-4R, a working lock-up converter, 3.42s, and a 28" tire. Cam a 230@50 and an 800 Q-jet. That car got wrecked and I have since picked up the 442 and swaped everything over except the rear. I am going to try the 3.73 with a 29" tire as the calculators say the gear will better maximise the use of my powerband thru the 1/4. I dunno if I don't like it I kept my spare 8.5 with 3.42 so I can switch back.
Yeah, it's not much of a long-hauler :lol: . I wish I had the money to go through my 200-4R to put it back in my car, but it'll probably be a while.
When I built the motor, gas was only like $2. When it hit $4 over the summer that kind of limited how much I drove it. Now it's finally getting to the point where I can afford to run a tank of gas through it. I took it out last sunday for the first time in a month for about 80 or so miles, and between some city driving and some country roads, it averaged about 8 mpg. Yeah, the cam is big, so she's pretty thirsty.
At 55 it runs about 2800 or so...so that's not too bad.
When you start to go 65 or more, then it's a little much.
