all the trim on my 85 cutty looks dull....around the windsheild, back windsheild, around both doors and crowl...whats the best way or stuff to make them look shiny again..they have no dents or anything just dull any help would be awesome... 😀

Around the windshield naturally had a brushed aluminum look to it. They will never pop like chrome bumper because they never did. Polishing and/or buffing is as shiny as they will get

ok cool mine just look really dull

What I do is I use dish soap and hot water and scrub the trim with a wash rag or a towel and rinse the trim really good with hot water. I dry the trim off and use really good chrome polish. I dont know what the stuff I use is called, but it looks like cotton candy and comes in a little tin can thats only available at swap meets via vendors. Usually by doing this the trim comes out shinier then usual for me.

Actually, when new they did shine like chrome.
They are aluminum moldings that have an anodized finish to protect them. I believe it's called 'Brite Dip'.
It's this anodizing that begins to oxidize and makes the molding look dull.
No amount of elbow grease will bring them back.

You'll need to strip the anodized finish and polish the moldings.
The proper way would be to then have them re-dipped to ensure a long lasting shine.
If left un-protected, the aluminum will become dull very quickly, and will need frequent polishing to keep it's shine.

I read somewhere that oven cleaner will remove the anodizing and after a good polishing it will bring back the shine... If i would try that, remove the anodizing, polish the crap out of the trim and then seal it with Zoops sealant to make it last... 8) The parts i would think to bring back the shine would be the stainless steel rocker trim. I tried to polish it and no matter how much elbow grease i put in it it didn't make a difference.. :|

NEVR-DULL Wadding Polish by Eagle, sold at any auto store and WAL*MART. Great stuff :!: If you have served or currently serve in the military, you probably know what this is  I swear they used it on anything that could possibly shine when I was in the Air Force

i tried that stuff didnt work...

Your in the same boat as most of us I'm thinking...I also went and tried that never dull stuff and it looks good for a very very short time.....I think the only answer is to have it re-chromed...That's what I am going to look into..I hear it's pretty pricey though.... 8)
