85 Regal Start Issues

How does the choke work? The flap has to close completely before start and as the engine starts to run, the choke flap opens a tiny bit.
I was looking at the flap. It doesn't move at all. I swapped the fuel filter and now it doesnt crank at either. Waiting on the battery to charge and get checked before I try cranking it again.

Ill check the accelerator pump too. The day before it stopped starting, it felt like it was stalling out when I accelerated over 55.

So I changed the fuel pump, just fyi an 85 regal with v6 uses an 86 fuel pump. Changed the fuel filter as well. Adjusted the spring on the left of the carb (facing the motor) and it started but runs like it wants to backfire.

sounds like a major vacuum leak
I rebuilt the carb last weeked, checked the float and disconnected the fuel line to make sure the pump was delivering fuel. The bowls still arent getting any fuel in the carb. I made sure the filter had the check valve facing the correct direction. I am stumped on this. I also checked all the air lines to the carb.

the only thing preventing fuel from entering the carburetor is the needle so you'll need to remove the horn to see what the problem is. I hope you coated the horn gasket so you'll have less of a chance of it's being damaged when you remove the horn.

So, I definitely did not hook the hangar on the needle off of the float. Fuel issue is now fixed. I also found an air line on the back of the motor. I had to adjust the choke but it runs when idle is set high. The issue now is that the car sputters some and popped from the exhaust when I shut it off. Not a backfire but a pop strangely enough. Finally, I appreciate all the help I received on here so far, you guys are amazing.

Check the plug wires to make sure they are on right. If they are on right pull the plugs to make sure there is no crack in the ceramic and that they are correctly gapped
