hello all! I just found this site i am an 86 cutlass owner and i too would like a ram air hood and I just happen to work for vfn and i will make sure to inform them and maybe get this thing made! 😀

VFN makes great quality pieces!!

One of the biggest details I've heard many guys speak of, is the angle the front of the hood sits at. Since this is a reproduction of a 70's hood, they retain the same inlet angle the 70's hood has which doesn't match or look quite right on an 80's g-body. Look at a pic of the hood from above and this is obvious. Maybe they can make one that more closely matches the hood line of the g-body.

Maybe this is something that can be addressed or looked into when talking about it. It would also be nice to be able to buy just the scoops themself so they can be added to a steel hood.

What's everyone think of these ideas?

agreed......they just slapped the w-25 hood scoops on a g-body hood and called it a day........there should be less "angle" to the scoop opening....

I'm planning on purchasing a w-25 style hood for my Cutlass, but if they made one's with corrected scoops I'd be all over it!

My two biggest G-body aftermarket parts complaints are 1.) the gold stripes do NOT have body color in-between them and 2.) make the hood with the right scoops for our cars, please!

That's part of the reason I'd like to have just the scoops. I'd hate to have to cut and reform the scoops on a hood, but if you had just the scoops, they could at least be cut apart and reangled.

I really like the hoods but I'm not sure I could deal with the wrong angles. I'd buy one with the correct angles in a heartbeat!

I found a good pic of what I'm refering to. http://www.usbodysource.com/__Photo-Gal ... -001-a.htm

US bodysource used to sell an air box for that hood years and years ago but stopped making it for some reason.

This is a pic of the underside of my W-25 hood. It's not a US bodysource hood but will give you and idea of how to close it off:

I know guys always talk about the scoop angles and how they are wrong but personally, when I see the hood in person it just doesn't look as bad as many think in my opinion. Yes there is one spot if you view the car they look a bit off and that always seems to be the same angle people post pictures of.

I'm looking at getting this hood next year when I get my car painted. They have chebby based hood too but no pics, just curious. How does the air box hook up?

Not as cool but cheap and functional you can check out my pics. And you can see how it seals to the breather to seal out the hot underhood heat and pull in good as it gets outside air.

Do you mean to the air cleaner or how does it attach to the hood?

In my above pic you can see how it's attached to the hood. Its that large triangular piece with the round hole cut out of it. It's just glued to the under side of the hood.
